Review

As one of three sisters I was very interested in this book. I wanted to see if other three-sister dynamics are similar to my own, if I could find any connections with any of the sisters, and how they fared in their travels.

I was pleased to find that, yes, these sisters reminded me of my own. They got along, they also didn't get along, depending on the situation. Above all, their love for one another was clear.

I enjoyed seeing how they tackled the stress of travel, and of varying sleeping arrangements, how they reacted to plans going as, well, as planned, and also how they reacted when they went against plan. I enjoyed seeing the growth of their bond as well as their growth as individuals.

The interspersing of their past experiences, at times, felt a bit forced and I struggled to see some of the connections. I did like the inclusion of some of their travel photos throughout the book and I felt they could have been used better, during the chapters, instead of being saved for the end of each part.

I am rating this book a 3 out of 5 stars. While I felt it was well written, and I did enjoy certain parts, overall, I was quite bored with the story. I was able to see their relationships, however I felt no connection at all to the sisters. Not the oldest, that I shared personality traits with, not the middle, who was narrating the book, and not the youngest who does remind me of my youngest sister. I would recommend it to some, but for sure not to all that I may discuss the book with. As a mostly fiction fan I have found quite a few memoirs that I have thoroughly enjoyed, and I had hoped this would be another (thinking I'd have a natural connection to the subjects).

I really liked seeing the caring side of Catwoman as a caretaker for her sister and ensuring she was placed into a gift home after she was unable to care for her anymore any longer. Too bad this was a one-time story as I would have liked to see more from this plot line.
