Review
We all know and love those classic fantasy tropes—fated mates, secret identities, warrior princesses—but this book combines them in a way that feels fresh and fun. The story kicks off with a dramatic twist: when a wolf pack is slaughtered as the queen gives birth, no one realizes there were actually two babies, not even the queen, who tragically dies in childbirth.
As fate would have it, both children are cared for—the heir and the spare, you might say. Calla, raised in secret, never dreams of the throne. Instead, she grows up alongside her sister, the princess, as her closest confidant and trusted warrior guard. But when Briar’s arranged marriage takes a wild turn, the sisters are thrust onto a life-altering path. Suddenly, Calla must step into a role she never trained for, uncovering her true self while embarking on a dangerous quest to save her sister’s life.
I really loved the characters and their dynamic in this story, and I can’t wait to dive into book two!
