A Tour to Die For is the follow-up to A Serial Killer’s Guide to San Francisco, which I loved for its quirky mix of humor and mystery. Both books follow the same tour guide and owner of a sightseeing business, whose knack for stumbling into chaos makes her adventures so entertaining. In this installment, one of her guests swears she sees an attack on a woman through a window during a tour. The police are called but find nothing suspicious and brush it off as a false report—something they warn is not to be taken lightly. Our tour guide, though, can’t shake the feeling that there’s more to the story. Why would a guest make something like that up? Determined to get answers, she starts digging into the mystery herself.
What she uncovers is a whirlwind of murder, mayhem, and unexpected danger, complete with shots fired, antics that made me laugh, and twists that kept me on edge. The charm of this series lies in its balance: the writing is light-hearted and fun while still carrying a well-structured mystery that pulls you along. I loved how the story kept me guessing—I was fairly confident about who wasn’t guilty, but I never felt completely sure who was until the reveal. If you’re in the mood for a witty, clever mystery that delivers both laughs and surprises, A Tour to Die For is absolutely worth picking up.
