Book one in the series didn’t quite hook me at first—I found myself struggling to get into the story. But by the end, something about it clicked just enough to convince me to pick up book two and give it another shot. I had hope that maybe things would pick up now that I was more familiar with the characters and the world. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case.
I’ve tried a few times now to get into book two, but it’s just not working for me. The story feels like it’s taking place almost entirely inside the heads of the two main characters, and while I understand the importance of internal growth and personal reflection, I personally prefer more external action and interaction between characters. This one feels a bit too heavy on introspection, memories, and emotional monologues, and not enough on connection or meaningful dialogue. It’s not that the book is written badly—it’s just giving off a vibe that doesn’t match what I usually enjoy, and that’s made it tough for me to stay engaged.
