Review
I really enjoyed the first book in this duology, so I went into the second with high hopes. While the writing itself was strong and the story wrapped up nicely, I found myself struggling to connect with this installment the way I did with the first. Maybe it was just my mindset at the time, but the emotional pull and the sense of connection I felt before weren’t quite there this time around. Charlie, the main character, had plenty of challenges to face, and while her journey was compelling on paper, it just didn’t resonate with me as deeply as I expected.
Interestingly enough, I actually found myself more invested in some of the side characters rather than the main storyline. They seemed to bring a different energy to the book that I enjoyed following. Still, I’m glad this was a duology because the story does reach a satisfying conclusion, and everything ties up neatly without dragging on unnecessarily. Even though this one wasn’t a perfect fit for me, I appreciate the overall arc of the series and how it all came together in the end.
