Review
For some reason, I went into this book thinking the series was going to be a trilogy, so as I got closer to the end, I started feeling like way too much was left unresolved. Then I hit the last page, and wow—the ending absolutely floored me. It was one of those delicious, jaw-dropping cliffhangers that left me completely speechless. My husband even looked over and asked if I was okay, because I just sat there in shock before blurting out, “There has to be another book.” He had no idea why I was so stunned since I’d been listening with my headphones in, but trust me, this reaction was real.
It’s honestly hard to talk about what I loved most without spoiling the journey for anyone who isn’t caught up yet. What I can say is that the way the threads from books one and two came together in this third installment was absolutely brilliant. The layers built into this story created a rich, multi-dimensional arc that was both stunning and satisfying. Kingsley, as always, added the perfect comic relief, balancing out the darker edges of the narrative. That’s something I adore about this series—it manages to be funny, uplifting, and full of heart, all while exploring the blurred line between villainy and virtue. Just because someone carries the label of “villain” doesn’t mean they’re truly evil, and just because someone holds power or a crown doesn’t mean they’re inherently good. This series captures that complexity beautifully, and it’s exactly why I keep coming back for more.
