I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, so I was beyond excited for book three. Even though I waited for the audiobook to release, I still bought the physical copy the moment it opened for presale—because obviously. The audiobook ended up feeling like an extra special treat, and I found myself having some very intense, one-sided yelling conversations with the main character. Like, you live in a witchy world and didn’t think it was strange that a wolf was basically knocking on your doorstep? That said, I had to remind myself (and her) that while she knows magic exists, she has no idea other paranormal beings do, so I eventually gave her a pass… even if I kept reminding her that she knows demons exist, so maybe she should be questioning everything just a little more.
What I really loved was the mysterious layer woven through the story, especially with her, newly accepted Kevin, and her incredibly hot werewolf man trying to figure out what’s really going on in their town. I’m such a sucker for romance with suspense, and adding that mystery into a paranormal romance just works for me every time. Even though this is absolutely a spooky-season read, I loved reading it in winter—it gave off warm, cozy vibes instead of cold and frosty ones (which is impressive, even for Florida). I also adored the café being a more prominent setting; something about a café scene just warms me from the inside out… though not much warming was needed after some of those spicy scenes. I am sooooo ready for book four and cannot wait to add it to my collection.
