Review
This book was such a fun and lighthearted read, packed with so many nostalgic references to the time period it was written in. From the gadgets and technology to the celebrities and pop culture of the era, it instantly transported me back to my teenage years and high school days. I couldn’t help but smile as memories flooded back—carrying a beeper everywhere, trying to navigate with a paper map spread out across the dashboard, leaving long-winded messages on answering machines, and living in a time before cell phones made everything so instant. Those moments of simpler, slower communication really came to life in this story.
Yet, while it brought back all these nostalgic memories, the story still stayed grounded in themes and experiences that felt distinctly adult. I laughed out loud, shed a few tears, yelled at the characters when they frustrated me, and celebrated their triumphs like they were my own. It’s safe to say this has become one of my favorite reads, and it’s made me an instant fan of the author. I really hope this story gets turned into an audiobook someday—I can just imagine how a great narrator could bring even more depth and vibrancy to the characters and story!
