Review

It’s rare for me to want to reread a book, but this one has completely earned a second (and probably third) round. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by Juliana and Ben’s story. They’re so authentically written—flawed, vulnerable, and incredibly strong—that I couldn’t help but feel every emotion right along with them. Their connection isn’t rushed or forced; it builds in a way that feels genuine and raw, and I found myself deeply invested in their personal growth and the love that unfolds between them.

What really stuck with me was how beautifully Amy Buchanan handled the emotional arc. Watching Juliana and Ben open themselves up—despite fear, pain, and past scars—was so heartwarming and hopeful. It’s the kind of story that reminds you love is worth fighting for, even when it's messy or complicated. I finished the book with a full heart and an even fuller TBR, because I need more from this author ASAP.

I  have to admit to an embarrassing story when I met Amy Buchanan. It was at an author panel and, at the time, I'd only read a book by one of the five authors in attendance, and, I'd never even heard of the others.

Before the signing there was an author panel and I immediately wanted to read all of their books, they were all so warm and genuine ... but I'm terrible with names. I had books for all of the authors, and we went to Amy's table first, and like a fool I was not prepared and a little overwhelmed and I gave her the wrong book! Then, I gave her the wrong book a second time.

The embarrassment I felt was unreal - she was no nice about it, but it's definitely an impression I'd never want to leave someone with. Her graciousness with me would have made me adore her alone, and after I read her book I could see how her heart and warmth comes out through her writing. She's left an impression on me as a person, and as a reader. I'm attending another signing of hers later this week, and no doubt about it, I won't make the same mistake again.
