Review
I picked up One Shot as prep for Summer Shot, and wow—I’m so glad I did. I’d heard amazing things about AC Wonderland, and this book didn’t just meet those expectations, it blew right past them. A couple of years ago, I thought sports romances were bound to feel shallow—just stories about someone falling for an athlete without much depth. But time and time again, I’ve been proven wrong. This book was another reminder that athletes can be at the heart of a bigger, layered story, and I loved every second of it.
What stood out to me here was how the sport itself took on a more prominent role, but in the best way. It wasn’t just background noise; it added depth, drive, and context to the characters’ lives. It reminded me why I adore sports stories even though I’m not a huge sports fan—I’ll watch a documentary or a movie about athletes any day. One Shot delivered that same feeling, blending the intensity of the game with the heart of the characters’ relationships. That mix pulled me in and kept me hooked from start to finish. Now I can’t wait to dive into Summer Shot and see where the story goes next.
