Review
One of the things that happens when you are growing up is you don't understand the vast number of movies you see, and love, are based on books. This is one of those movies. I learned the sequel is coming out and at the same time learned about the books. Of course, I decided I just had to read the book since I almost always love the book better than the movie.
I'm not sure if it's because The Devil Wears Prada was such a popular movie with such very memorable scenes, but for one I didn't love the book more than the movie. I know that Andy's year with Miranda is one of growth and accomplishment, but the book felt so much heavier than the movie. Some of my absolute favorite scenes I was sad to learn aren't a part of the original story, including how she parts ways with Miranda in Paris. Of course, movie scripts often have to be more outlandish than the book was written to capture the attention of the viewers but somehow this made the book feel almost lackluster.
I will definitely read the next two books before the second movie comes out and since the second book was, I believe, written after the first movie, I hope some of that same spunk I captured.
