Review

I absolutely adored The Spellshop, so I was thrilled when I found out there would be a spin-off—and it did not disappoint! What’s great is that this one stands perfectly well on its own. Even if you haven’t read the first book, you won’t feel lost, though longtime fans will catch a few fun references. One of my favorite things about this story is how a side character from The Spellshop gets her own spotlight here. Once just a cautionary tale about magic gone wrong, she really comes into her own. I loved watching her reclaim her magic—even with fear still present, she chooses to embrace it and explore what she can do. That quiet bravery and personal growth made her such a compelling character.

Her connection to the greenhouses and their residents was so heartwarming. She pours so much love and care into trying to save the space, and that devotion really shines through. The budding romance between her and the gardener brought such a sweet emotional depth to the story. Watching her gently support him as he faces his past trauma and feelings of abandonment added another meaningful layer. Their bond feels earned, soft, and full of healing. I also appreciated the subtle nods to The Spellshop scattered throughout, which made this feel like a cozy return to a familiar world. I really hope we get to revisit it again in future books—I’m definitely not ready to leave this magical setting behind.
