Review
Even though the title hints at a runaway bride, this book delivers all the emotional depth and second-chance romance vibes that made the first book so good. We’re swept into the story of two former high school sweethearts, thrown back together in the most unexpected way. They’re not the couple getting married in this book—but their unresolved feelings simmer just beneath the surface. You’re not immediately told what caused the rift between them, and that mystery kept me turning the pages (well, when I wasn’t being forced to do real-life adult things like working). It’s that kind of emotional push-and-pull that hits you right in the heart—heartwarming, gut-wrenching, and completely addicting.
The way each of them believes their love is one-sided? Ugh, so good. The longing, the emotional weight, and the absolutely electric sexual tension between them had me glued to the pages. I knew it would end in a happily ever after—I mean, that’s part of the charm—but it didn’t take away from the journey one bit. The pacing, the feels, the chemistry... chef’s kiss. I am completely obsessed with this series and the Alaskan small-town world it’s built around. I’m about to dive into book four, and once I wrap that up (and since I’ve already devoured book five), I’m heading straight into the original series featuring the parents of these characters. I’m in it for the long haul now!
