The love I have for this book might truly know no bounds. A Gentleman’s Gentleman was such a rich, utterly scrumptious read that reminded me exactly why I fell in love with historical romance in the first place. TJ Alexander crafted something that feels timeless yet fresh—a beautiful ode to quiet yearning, stolen glances, and the kind of tension that hums between two people afraid to say too much. It’s the sort of story that wraps you up in its world and makes you ache for every moment they almost touch.
One of my favorite things about historical romance is that delicious level of angst woven through every interaction, and this one hit every note perfectly. There were so many times I wanted to grab the characters and shout, “Just talk to each other!”—but then I’d stop and remember: people back then didn’t pour their hearts out so easily. Feelings were hidden, words were guarded, and entire conversations could unfold in the brush of a hand or a single lingering look. That’s where this story truly shines—the emotional restraint, the exquisite frustration, and the unspoken love that builds until it can’t be contained anymore.
Watching these two main characters slowly let each other in was such a heartfelt journey. Their growth—both as individuals and as partners—felt so genuine and deeply satisfying. You see their fears, their hesitations, and eventually, their bravery in choosing vulnerability. I’ve read a few of TJ Alexander’s books before, but this one absolutely sealed the deal—I’ll be reading anything they release from here on out. If you love historical romance that aches, heals, and lingers long after the final page, A Gentleman’s Gentleman is one you simply can’t miss.
