Anchor offers a refreshing twist on the classic hero-saves-the-day narrative. Most of the time, we see stories where the hero is either fully supported by family or completely surrounded by strangers. This book manages to blend the two, weaving in both personal ties and outside challenges in a way that makes the story feel layered and engaging. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the main character, his child, and his ex—it added depth and a sense of vulnerability that heightened the emotional stakes. The plot itself is gripping and filled with intensity, keeping me turning pages and eager to see how it would all play out.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the story is the sense of mystery around the tragedy and trauma that set everything into motion. The suspense builds well, but I did find myself wishing there had been a bit more exploration of that backstory—perhaps through flashbacks or gradual reveals. That said, the way the author handled the unfolding revelations still kept me hooked, and overall, I thought this was a strong, suspenseful read. It left me both satisfied and curious, and I’m excited to continue with the rest of the series and explore more of this author’s work.
