Review

I went into this thinking I was just getting an early read, but getting an advanced copy of a script instead of a book ended up being way more interesting than I expected. Baby Script is such a cute and heartfelt story that starts when a young girl overhears a woman talking about wanting a baby so badly that she’s prepared to make it happen with a stranger. The girl thinks this woman seems genuinely kind and could be a good match for her dad, so she decides to nudge things along… with a prank that puts them in each other’s orbit. They meet, exchange numbers, and the vibes are there, but when she later comes to him with an unexpected proposal, he completely freaks out—understandably. Still, we know what genre we're in, so of course they circle back, move forward together, and that’s when the emotional journey of trying to conceive naturally begins.

What really hooked me was the format itself. Reading this story as a script instead of a novel gave me a different level of perspective—especially since I’m not someone who naturally visualizes every detail when reading. Scripts leave so much room for imagination, and I found myself filling in scenes based on what I could personally connect with. I loved seeing the montages laid out, where transitions would happen, and how the emotional beats were meant to play out visually rather than on a page full of descriptions. It made me appreciate how much work really falls to the director and producers to turn those lines into something fully realized. Now I can’t wait to see this story come to life on screen—I’m already imagining the soundtrack, the lighting, the casting… everything. I’ll absolutely be watching the movie the minute it’s out.
