Review

It had been a minute since I read the previous books in the series, so I was a little worried I’d be lost or need a refresher on all the characters and events. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all. This book eased me right back into the world without missing a beat. The focus on Oak's journey felt natural and fresh, even with some time having passed. It dives deep into how others have perceived him versus who he really is, and that contrast made the story even more compelling.

I loved getting to see Oak not just grow up, but really grow into himself. Watching his layers peel back and realizing how much he’s been hiding—especially when it comes to what he actually wants—was so satisfying. His internal struggle and the quiet moments of self-discovery really hit home. This book didn’t just move the plot forward—it gave Oak the spotlight he’s always deserved, and it was a joy to watch him rise to the moment.
