Mystery Magnet is a delightfully quirky cozy mystery that kicks off what looks to be a charming and entertaining new series. We follow a struggling author whose career is stuck in a rut—until he finds himself the main suspect in a murder case that seems to leap straight out of one of his unwritten novels. Now he has to unravel a real-life whodunnit to clear his name, and the journey is as witty and engaging as it is unpredictable.
The characters are fun, offbeat, and memorable in that perfect cozy mystery way, with just enough oddball energy to keep things interesting. I loved the hints of found family and self-discovery woven into the mystery, and the whole vibe reminded me of a live-action game of Clue—think “Mrs. Peacock in the study with the rope.” If you enjoy lighthearted mysteries with a touch of theatrical flair, clever plotting, and a warm, small-town feel, this one should definitely be on your TBR. I’ll absolutely be following the rest of the series!
